And…..IT’S A…???

So the long awaited and anticipated day finally arrived and we were able to find out the gender of our sweet little baby about two weeks ago at our big 20 week ultrasound! We were so very happy and excited to find out, but COMPLETELY over the moon once we found out the big news!!! The doctor said that everything looks wonderful with the baby, it is growing and developing great, heartrate is great, my weight gain is right on target with where I am in my pregnancy which was all such wonderful news to me!  We were so so excited to tell all of our family and friends who have all been waiting to hear!  We have already started working on nursery plans and are having so much fun putting a room together for this sweet little one!

We are beyond thrilled to announce that we are having…..

A GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some gender reveal cupcakes my mom, Jenna, Parker, & I made in Abilene to tell the sweet Trammell family that it is a GIRL!!! They were so much fun to make and I loved the way they turned out. We did a white cupcake, with strawberry cake cut into heart shapes that were in the middle of the cupcake when you bit into it, and with pink and blue sprinkles on top! They turned out adorable and yummy, and the Trammell girls were so excited!!

As I’m writing this post, I’m now 21 weeks along, with about 17 weeks left until we get to meet our beautiful girl!! I will be induced early at 38 weeks since my doctor and I don’t want the baby getting too big since that is something to be cautious of with having type 1 diabetes while pregnant. I look forward to every doctor’s appointment I have to check on this sweet girl, since I get an ultrasound at all of my appointments, one big benefit of being high risk. We continue to pray for my health and the baby’s health throughout the rest of this pregnancy. But God has truly blessed us with this sweet angel and the timing could not have been perfect. And we are so so thankful that everything has been going so great with my health during the pregnancy and that the baby is perfectly healthy, we pray that it continues on this way for the remainder of the pregnancy! Any and all prayers are appreciated for the health of the baby and I.

Our Big News

Yes it’s been awhile, but I think I can say that I’ll be updating more often here now. So back in April God sent us the biggest surprise and gift we could have ever asked for! As we have been trying to get things in the right order as far as my health and timing goes we celebrated our five year wedding anniversary March 20th and had no idea what would be coming in the next few weeks! Right after Easter I started imageimagefeeling weird, sick, nauseated all the time, and ridiculously tired. I won’t lie but the thought of maybe being pregnant definitely crossed my mind but I quickly dismissed it because I just thought that could never be true and just felt somehow I would know without a doubt if I was pregnant. Well all of these physical symptoms went on for about two weeks probably until Jake decided it was time to find out one way or another, he all along thought I was pregnant which of course he turned out to be right! So on a late night during a bad rain storm he went out to Walgreens and bought a box of pregnancy tests and I decided to take it Sunday morning before headed to church, April 20th. I took two tests first before church and was in complete shock and disbelief by the positive result so we stopped by the grocery store on the way home from church and picked up another box of pregnancy tests and I took another two tests that Sunday afternoon which again came out being positive! We were both in utter shock and disbelief, yet so excited and anxious!

We did a lot of talking and praying over the next few days and I made my first doctors appointment to confirm everything for the next week. We had our first exam, ultrasound, and round of blood tests. It was all very much confirmed that I was indeed pregnant and about 8 weeks along. We decided to wait and tell our families the weekend of Mother’s Day which was about three to four weeks from when we first found out and it was the hardest secret to keep from telling the people you love and want to tell the very most! I was about 11 weeks when we first told our families and telling them was fabulous! We bought both of our mom’s a pandora bracelet charm that was a baby carriage and gave them a Mother’s Day card to go along with it. We were not able to tell my parents in person sinimagece they were not in town for Mother’s Day weekend so we mailed my mom a Mother’s Day card and pandora charm which she received Monday evening. After opening the package both my parents facetimed us which was fun, there were tears and lots of excitement and joy from them and everyone else we told. We told my grandparents, aunts, and cousins on Mother’s day, I gave my nana a Mother’s Day card and wrote the big news inside of it, she immediately cried and gave me a big hug and then passed the card around to let everyone else in on the news! There were tons of tears and hugs along with lots of screaming which was so fun!!

We waited to tell our closest friends in Abilene Memorial Day weekend when we visited for The Trammell girls ballet recital. We bought them pink and blue flower bouquets to give them after the recital was over and told them the big news! Everyone was so super excited and there were hugs from all around! We then let out our special news to the rest of the world via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and any other way of social media you could think of.

I’m now 16 weeks along and we are so so excited for everything we have unfolding over the next few months! We are especially excited for our next ultrasound on July 15th to find out the gender of our sweet baby! All has been going very well so far throughout the pregnancy we are working hard with my amazing doctor to keep my diabetes and seizures under control but so far it’s all going great, the baby is growing and developing perfect and we could not be more thankful to God for that! We are praying constantly for a continued healthy pregnancy and baby! But we are beside ourselves excited for this new journey in our lives!!!!

Stroll For Epilepsy 2015

Its that time again to bring Epilepsy and all seizure disorders into the light and raise awareness for Epilepsy and all those millions of people who suffer daily from it. My family and I will be participating again this year in the annual Stroll for Epilepsy in Houston, Texas at the zoo on April 11, 2015 to raise money and awareness for Epilepsy. Team Jillian is very passionate about this fundraising event and would love to have your support!

As alot of people already know, I was diagnosed with Epilepsy about four years ago and have since struggled to get my seizures under control with finding the right medicine, dosage, and lifestyle. It is my goal to make it a full year without any seizures, but I am happy to say that currently it has been about five months and I am doing my best to keep going at this seizure free pace. I’m very thankful to be working with THE BEST doctor and hospital staff in the world at Houston Methodist Hospital under the care of Dr. Amit Verma who has and continues to do everything he can to control my seizures and help me find the right medicines for my particular condition in my lifestyle.

Epilepsy continues to be underfunded despite the fact that over 2.5 million people in the U.S. live with Epilepsy and every four minutes someone in the U.S. is diagnosed with Epilepsy. The Epilepsy Foundation of Texas is committed to ensuring that those affected by seizures and Epilepsy live life with dignity, equality, and independence. The Epilepsy Foundation of Texas has been established since 1983 and continues to do everything they can to raise money, awareness, and provide education for patients and families who are affected by Epilepsy. The Stroll for Epilepsy is sponsored by the Epilepsy Foundation of Texas along with other organizations that do everything they can to raise awareness for Epilepsy and seizure disorders and to find a cure and end to all seizures.

By donating to Team Jillian in the Stroll for Epilepsy 2015 you will not only help support me in my Epilepsy journey, but your donation whether big or small will help in so many other ways such as:

-By sending children of all ages to Epilepsy camps to learn more  about living life with this disease.

-Providing clinics for people with no insurance

-Educating people about Epilepsy and seizure disorders.

-Destroying the stigma and negative images society has about Epilepsy.

-Helping people with Epilepsy learn job skills to be able to become employed.

-Art thearpy & other support groups

-Get FIT Texas

-Continued science & medical research to help find the cure & end to all seizures

-Continued advancements in medication, treatments, & surgeries for Epilepsy and all seizure disorders.

During the last four years of my Epilepsy journey I have learned so much about the disease itself, causes, triggers, medications, other treatments, side effects from medications, and how it has changed my life overall. This disease has changed me completely, the way I see my past, present life, and my future. There are so many things that could have been prevented or treated earlier on if I had known what I know now. I hope you will keep that in mind as you consider donating to this great cause and don’t forget that any donation helps, no matter big or small!

Thank you to all who are reading this and all who have been such a big part of my life during this journey. It is such a reassuring feeling knowing that I have been in so many people’s thoughts and prayers. Just some thoughts

I realize I haven’t updated since Halloween time and holiday busyness is my only excuse, but now that the holidays are all over I have no REAL excuse and have quite a few posts to get this blog back updated, at least somewhat! But before I go back and write about all of our holiday fun and such, I just had a post of all kind of random thoughts that I just needed to get out there. Sorry if it seems random or like my thoughts or going in a million different directions but that is pretty much how I feel these days!

So I will write more when I get everything updated about my new year’s resolutions, but one of my goals this year is to pray, not just more, but to pray in a different and passionate way than I have before. I feel like it is our true connection to the daily presence of God aside from His word, and I have just really felt pressed to REALLY FOCUS on connecting through prayer to God this year! There is alot going on in our lives right now that I’m so so so thankful for and some things that are out of our control and all we can do is hand it over to God and continue to passionately pray for guidance through all of our plans.

I started something towards the end of 2014 that really helped bring me closer to God and made reading His word much more simple and easier to understand. It’s a website/company/app called shereadstruth and I just LOVE it, it has helped the Bible seem not so intimidating! I usually do my reading/journaling/prayer time either in the morning or later at night after Jake has gone to bed. I use the website version and they do all kinds of different topics or books of the Bible and always a few scriptures that you read along with a couple of paragraphs written by an amazing faith inspired woman of God. I did so many last year, but I just started their study on the book of John and I can’t wait to see what God has to show through reading and studying it! If you or any woman you know is looking for a simple, easy, manageable Bible study that they can do on their own or in a group I would highly suggest this website/app.

We are about to start a new Bible study with our small group at church about marriage/relationships and I just love having this website to turn to when I just need a little “me” time whether my heart is full of joy, thanksgiving, pain, stress, anxiety, or anything else. I have just been amazed at how much putting a little worship music on, reading through a short study, and some prayer can really do for my heart, spirit, and attitude about life. I love the way it makes me feel and hope I can move it up a notch in this new year!!

Happy Halloween

I have always LOVED Halloween time since I was a little girl and still do to this day and like to dress up as something just for fun every year! I know alot of people these days who have issues or hate the holiday of Halloween for whatever reason but it has always been just a fun time of year in my opinion that really kicks off the season of fall getting to dress up in a fun costume with lots of different activities all involving trick or treating and getting candy! What couldn’t be fun about dressing up and getting candy?

This year we did a few things for Halloween, the main thing being volunteering at our church Halloween carnival which is like a trunk or treat for a very large area so lots and lots families show up. The church brings in all kinds of bounce houses, music entertainers/performers, Chick fil-A, pizza, and many other typical carnival games for all the kids that come. As a volunteer you are supposed to pick a theme for your car and then decorate your car and dress up in costume accordingly. There are lots of cars for all the families to walk around with their Halloween buckets/bags and get candy. All of the candy is donated by members of the church throughout the year, it is amazing to see how much candy we get for this event. So this year for the Halloween carnival we chose to do our car in an 80s, “I love the 80s” theme which was really fun seeing all the different age groups of parents and kids reacting to our costumes, decorations, and love for the 80s! I dressed as just an 80s girl and unfortunately I didn’t have a picture of Jake and his costume on my big camera since I took a few on my phone that night. But he dressed as Pac-Man, painted/made himself a video game/pac-man t-shirt which was a huge hit, people couldn’t believe that he painted it himself haha! We had two other friends that helped with our 80s theme, one dressed as another 80s girls, neon colors, scrunchies, and fun socks. And the other guy was a cassette tape, which was hilarious. The other car next to us were part of our small group so we were kinda all doing it together did a Duck Dynasty theme and dressed in camo, hunting, and dressed their twin baby boys as Willie & Uncle Si which so funny and a huge hit at the carnival!

Being part of the carnival is alot of fun and definitely somethiing I would do again, alot of fun to pick out a theme and decorate your car and find a costume. But the only downside is that I didn’t get to walk around too much and see everyone I wanted to see in all their different costumes and get more pictures of everything! I tried to get as many pictures as I could but handing out candy to crazy amounts of kids gets pretty hard, they want all the candy, its gets crazy!! But I did get a good picture of our 80s themed car decorated and got a picture of myself all in costume by the decorated car. Also got a picture of two of the best cars I liked the most at the carnival, one was done in Candy Land board game theme which was super cute, the other was Frozen theme and it was just very well done, the guy had cut out and made/painted the big characters.

All in all it was a fun time at the Halloween carnival seeing lots of fun costumes. We also were able to hand out some candy on the night of Halloween to a few trick or treaters that came to our house which was so fun because this was our very Halloween to be in a house, versus an apartment. I hope everyone had a fun Halloween and has a great week!

Way Back When

Well as usual this blog has been neglected through the business of life so some of these posts happened quite awhile ago but I still feel the need to document the pictures and memories. Life is a journey and I hope to one day go back to this and remember what was happening through my writing and pictures. I am going to really do my best to put forth a much better effort at keeping this more up to date, like holding myself to blogging once a week even if it is about nothing at all, who cares, sometimes life is about nothing!

But other than daily life we spent our summer just sweating, working around here, and bumming around, and did I mention anything to cool a.k.a. the pool as much as possible, it was a hot one!! But fun nontheless, we spent our summer vacation with my family near Galveston Beach rented a  big beach house for us all to stay together in which was on the same road as my Aunt Monica’s awesome beach house. We all had such a fun week being together, there were tons of kids, lots of noise, so much food. and the beach, so it was just like old times but way better!! We all decided that we want to start trading in our huge massive amounts of Christmas shopping for family vacations and for right while we have little ones that can’t really travel so far an hour or so trip to the beach for the week sounds like perfection!

We got to be at the beach for the 4th of July which was quite a show and just so fun and patriotric feeling. We had a big BBQ that night and I can remember having enough meat to feed an army, it was craziness! We also had the chance to go out to eat one night at a local seafood restaurant and although there was a long wait for our table our food was still good. And the restaurant had a really fun atmosphere with being right on the bay, lots of boats to look, tons of rock to throw and play with, a fun deck to walk around, a fun bar to drink and wait around at, and a game of cornhole which was fun and really made the time pass quickly until your table was ready. We all had the most fun together on the beach and are so blessed and lucky to get to call each other family and are so very thankful for everyone and everything God has put into our lives, sometimes our joy makes us speechless!! Until next year we love the beach!!

Our Summer So Far

So far our summer has been so wonderful, very fun and enjoyable for both of us. Some of the big things that have happened include: Jake getting transferred to an office closer to home making his commute only about 10-15 minutes as opposed to an hour like before when he was working downtown. When he moved offices he got his company car which is such an awesome perk and blessing with his job, free car, gas paid for, along with any car maintenance, which in turn means I have gotten my car back FINALLY!

Other fun things we have been doing include projects around the house which I will write a seperate blog post on so I can include pictures of everything. But our house project list continues to grow, but luckily I love doing projects around the house, it’s definitely one of my favorite hobbies. But I have also gotten to spend lots of time with my sister and nephew since they are both on summer break right now. We have been doing lots of fun shopping and out to lunch days, lots of pool days, along with some fun trips just the three of us. A few weeks ago we made our week long trip to Abilene to visit my parents and so I could visit my sweet girls which was a fun trip, always too short but that is just life I guess. And our biggest trip we took our long awaited beach vacation that we had been planning since after Christmas and it was fabulous, lots of time in the sun, yummy food, and tons of laughs with the family! I will definitely do a seperate blog post on our family beach vacation with LOTS of pictures!

And coming up next week will be another girls trip plus Parker going to Austin for a few days while my mom is working there we are going to hang out at the hotel and find some fun stuff to get into in Austin. I love Austin, girls trips, and hotels so put them altogether and I think its going to a fun time! It will probably be the last trip with my sister and nephew for the summer since unfortunately school will start before we know it! Jake & I are going to try and go to Abilene in mid August to celebrate Claire & Elizabeth’s birthday parties with them but that will probably be the end of our summer travels.  But we have loved summer 2014 so much and already have so much to look forward to in the coming months. More updates to come 🙂
