March Update

Finally updating the blog back from February with a few pictures about our spring break trip to Abilene and back with sweet little Parker. First of all it ALWAYS SO GOOD to go home to Abilene, there are so so many things I miss about that sweet little town and oh how I wish I could just hop in the car and drive there whenever I wanted to. But I am beyond blessed at how often I get to go visit my family and sweet little girls there a couple times a year and for that I am so very grateful!

For this trip my sister and Parker’s little preschool were on their spring break but my mom had to work so it was just my sister, me, and Parker for most the week playing and meeting Chief (my dad) and Christopher for lunch everyday. We of course had to go visit Miss Terry (my dad’s office secretery) and go for golf cart rides around campus which was probably Parker’s favorite part of the entire trip even though they were pretty cold and windy, it was still pretty chilly in Abilene when we were there. We got to meet lots of new people while we were there, some police officers and other friends at Chief’s office, some teachers at Kappy’s school, some new little friends (Maggie, Claire, Elizabeth, Mason, Sawyer, & Logan).

These faces make me smile :)

One of the weeks I was blessed to be in Abilene over the summer while Jake was in Dallas and then Washington DC I had our very good friend and photographer who takes all our pictures do me with my sweet Trammell girls because I really wanted some good recent pictures of me with them! I’m sure most of you know how it is, the only way you get good pictures of them is if you are behind the camera taking the pictures and selfishly I want to be in the picture with them sometimes because I want to have these wonderful memories to look back on one day and remember how blessed I was and how special of children they were and just how fast they grew!

First of all, I honor photographers who graciously work with kids, especially small kids because Elizabeth who is 4 isn’t one for pictures especially this particular day, but with a little talking through and coaxing we were able to get some really cute ones that I love and will always cherish! I can’t look at these pictures without thinking about the journey that I have been on with these sweet girls and their family! If you have read this blog at all you know what these girls mean to me and you are probably tired of hearing about it but it is just part of my story and everyone has one that means the world to them and this is just part of mine! I couldn’t do my life without these sweet little smiling faces among others but they are so BEYOND important!! ๐Ÿ™‚ I love you Maggie, Claire, & Elizabeth

Fun in San Diego

So back several months ago my sister asked me if I would be interested in going to San Diego with her, Matt, & Parker this morning. What do you really say to that? I mean I love travel almost more than anything in the world! So when someone invites to come vacation with you especially two of your very favorite people in the world there isn’t even a question in mind of whether you want to go or not. From the very first time she asked me I was 110% completely down with it!! And as it turns out it worked out so perfect that Jake received this new job at the beginning of summer and I was not too keen on being alone all summer long since he was going to be gone for so long. So the timing worked out perfect for such a wonderful vacation! Not only had I never been to California but I had always wanted to go and sometimes I still can’t believe I got to go to San Diego, California for an entire week with my sister, brother in law, and nephew. They were so enormously generous by inviting on this trip that I could never thank them enough!! Love you guys more than you will ever know ๐Ÿ™‚DSC_8578

Nothing but a really cool sign not too far from us in San DIego. They had some really old, unique signs everywhere in San Diego…I LOVED them!

DSC_8597

Matt & Jenna at La Jolla Beach, we drove around one day out there looking at all the amazing houses and then walked around looking at the sea lions and water and stuff. It was a really cool beach!

DSC_8608

This whole time while we were driving around looking at the town and all the amazing houses Parker had fallen asleep and woke up just before leaving and was able to have his picture taken at La Jolla Beach. I know he was so thankful ๐Ÿ™‚

Looking at all the people and the sea lions below on the rocks and in the water. He definitely having so much stuff to look at.

DSC_8604

These sea lions have adapted to this rocky beach area and have made it their home. It is a really cool sight to see and hear!

DSC_8652

One of our first exhibits we saw at the awesome San Diego Zoo was the Koala Bear exhibit, which was very well done and ended up being one of Parker’s favorite animals of the zoo. At the end of his trip he even got to bring home a koala bear from the zoo gift shop. They were very sleepy animals but still so cute watching them climb up their trees and snuggle and sleep and occasionally wake up to eat their euchalyptus leaves.

DSC_8655

Taking a little break from the animals to say CHEESE for a quick picture, clearly Parker didn’t want to smile!

DSC_8662

One of the greatest sights to see was the amazing Polar Bear exhibit the San Diego Zoo had, they had two or three polar bears in the exhibit. And we were lucky enough to get to see them do all sorts of fun tricks and also learned how smart of animals polar bears are. In this picture the polar bear was dribbling a ball underwater, it was truly amazing to watch!

DSC_8670

Jenna & Parker in front of the pretty pink flamingo exhibit, again Parker not looking at the camera, there really was so much more to see around him.

A sweet man with his family was nice enough to take our picture so that everyone could be in it, we were so very thankful ๐Ÿ˜‰

And of course I had to get one with just me and my sweet nephew Parker LOVE him so much ๐Ÿ™‚

DSC_8718

This was at one of the duck exhibits, he absolutely loved it! Although this spring and summer he has had a serious duck obsession so I think he would have loved duck anything.

DSC_9136

This was HANDS DOWN my absolutely favorite part of the entire zoo! I had never seen a real Giant Panda Bear in real life and it was simply amazing. This one pictured above I believe was the mama panda bear and they also are sleepy animals but so cute and furry and soft. We learned so much about all the different animals we saw at the zoo, but I thought to be so interesting that this female panda bear only ever wants to be around a male panda bear when she is ready to breed which is only once a year.

DSC_9140

Here is another one of the Panda bears we saw

DSC_9149

Parker also loved the Hippopotamus and they were HUGE and came up so close to the glass!

DSC_9169

Another break from the animals for a picture for Jenna & Parker

DSC_9006

We also were able to go to a San Diego Padres baseball when they were playing San Francisco Giants which was so FUN! Here is a picture from outside of the baseball park while we waited for the gates to open.

And a certain someone here was EXTRA happy about watching ball-ball as he calls it. He was smiling, clapping, and cheering throughout the whole game, it was making everyone around excited haha! He definitely made the game even more fun!

I just LOVE the expression on his face in this picture ๐Ÿ™‚

I had really forgotten how much fun going to baseball games are since it had been forever since I had been to one!

At the New Children’s Museum in San Diego just playing and playing. This museum was different, Parker had fun playing, and it was definitely creative and intriguing to see what kind of projects they did to work with the children’s art and creativity. But it was unlike any children’s museum we had ever been to. It was very green, recycle, reusing things to make art, but the whole museum reflected the feel of the city of San Diego which was really neat to see that put into a museum. But there also wasn’t a ton for his age of kids to do at the museum but he still had a fun time playing.

DSC_8760

This place had all kinds of neat, colorful things hanging from the ceiling that were so interesting and intriguing to Parker.

DSC_8785

Beating on those drums!!

DSC_8799

Jenna & Parker playing the drums together…I think this picture is so cute with their faces so close together and both of them smiling!

DSC_8805

This was one thing that he did love, they had this big maze painted all different colors and with all kinds of graffiti writing all over it. And he had himself a ball crawling and running through it mainly away from us haha, but when we finally would catch him he would just crack up laughing and it was too cute!

DSC_8808

LOVE this one!!

DSC_8839

Building blocks was another fun part of the museum, although his favorite part was knocking down the tower after we had built them!

DSC_8850

Here we are at the Pacific Beach on Coronado Island to be exact. I absolutely loved the Pacific Ocean and was utterly amazed at how much beach the pacific still has, its still so long, vast even before your toes hit the water.

DSC_8864

Parker LOVED the sand, This sand was different than our beaches here. But he just melted in the sand and laid down and played in it.

April Abilene Trip

The month of April has really been a whirlwind for us, I honestly cannot believe that we are already into the month of May!! ย Along with celebrating my dad & sister’s birthdays in the beginning of April we had a few other big things in April. First, going and supporting the Walk for Epilepsy at the Houston Zoo which was very meaningful to be a part of and fun at the same time. I decided about a year ago that this was something I wanted to be a part of and formed a team and raised money to support the research to help find a cure for Epilepsy. It was a early. but fun day with my family having them all come down to be a part of this with me knowing they support me in this good cause. Since it was at the zoo we had a fun family day enjoying all the animals together, the only one missing was Christopher (my brother). I was amazed at the amount of teams that were there and had formed teams together. But more than that I was amazed, thankful, and shocked at how much money me & my team were able to raise just through the help of our own close friends and family. I raised exactly $525.00 while the entire event raised $263, 264 and that total isn’t including the other Epilepsy walks in Dallas, Fort Worth, El Paso, Amarillo, or Midland/Odessa. It was a great walk and something I am planning to make a yearly tradition and hoping to raise even more next year and to form an even bigger team to walk with!ย

The following week I was in Abilene staying with my parents and helping my favorite little family, The Trammells while Sara was out of town on business. I continued my old nanny roll for a whole week and LOVED EVERY MINUTE of being the Trammell taxi cab all around Abilene to many , different activities, birthday parties, to and from school, church, out to dinner, and so much more! I love these little girls SO SO MUCH and continue to be amazed each time I see them at how much they have grown. It is such a cool thing to see them growing and progressing as little girls in life and watching them find their little passions & personalities. BUT I sure miss my baby girls ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Iย  Maggie practicing her cartwheels in the grass, this girl LOVES gymnastics!

Although we had so much fun together while we were there, one pretty big unfortunate thing did happen while I was there. After having made it EIGHT WHOLE MONTHS without having a seizure I had two back to back seizures while I was there which I cannot describe how disappointed I am. I think what really made this seizure worse was the fact that Maggie & Claire saw it happen which ever since I was diagnosed about two years was the one thing I was worried about. I just so desperately never wanted to scare or upset them because I know seeing someone you love have a seizure can be very frightening especially at such a young and fragile age. But I know it did scare them, but luckily I was able to talk with them about it a day or two later. Another thing that so worried and scared me about this seizure was that I had previously been driving and thank God I was not in the car and that was somewhere I was able to get help! We still don’t know really why I had the seizure since I am on two different anti-epileptic medications. But then again I remember Epilepsy is such a frustrating and silly disease that definitely has a mind of its own and often you can be doing everything right, good diet, exercise, taking your meds, getting good sleep and still have a seizure. Unfortunately there are no real answers or cure so I just have to do what I can and follow all of my doctor’s orders.

But all in all it was a great week in Abilene spending time with my family and my sweet little girls there! I cannot wait for my next visit to Abilene hopefully sometime this summer. But we are definitely ready for summer around these parts, so ready for the pool around here! ย  ๐Ÿ™‚

Wrapping up February

I cannot believe the month of February has already come and gone, I know I say that after every month passes but the months really seem to just fly by lately! The month of February was not too terribly busy, but busy enough to have been blessed to do alot of fun things together with friends and family. I just wanted to write a short little post about the Nassar February events and show pictures of what we have been up to.

Abilene January Trip Part 2

I had so much while I was in Abilene a few weeks ago, it was beyond wonderful to get to be with my sweet girls for an entire week! ย The real reason I went was to help with the girls school, daily activities, and anything else that came up that week while their sweet mom was really busy getting the Abilene Philharmonic Ball together. The girls & I got to do lots of fun stuff together including getting all fancy for the Philharmonic Tea. It was too cute to see them all in their adorable tea dresses. And the night of the big Philharmonic Ball the girls spent the night with me at my parents house and we all had such a fun time together, aside from the fact that Elizabeth was sick with fever, cough, and a cold. It was some hard coaxing to get Elizabeth to take that yummy purple Tylenol so her fever would go down, but finally after pretending her American Girl doll was sick and giving it medicine she agreed to take her medicine and actually ended up liking the way it tasted, haha, imagine that!!

It really was such a great trip, but like always leaving is full of mixed emotions. I love Abilene so much, especially the people that live there and love nothing more than to move back to that town. But there are some things I would miss about living in Houston, mainly my sister & brother in law and adorable nephew Parker and shopping and restaurants haha. I guess if an actual good opportunity came up for Jake & I in Abilene there would be a possibility of us moving back to Abilene. But for now we are enjoying the Houston area! I’m already looking forward to my next trip to Abilene to spend time with these sweethearts of mine! ๐Ÿ™‚

January Abilene Trip

Last week I had the absolute pleasure of being in Abilene, Texas and getting to spend the week with my sweet girls I used to be a nanny for and hanging out with my family and friends that still live there. It was such a fantastic week that I almost can’t put into words how much I enjoyed being there, but I’m going to do my best to share in words how wonderful my week was. I was very blessed by getting to fly to Abilene for this trip so I left l left last Saturday, stopped in Dallas, then headed on another plane to Abilene. I love to fly so much even if it is just on small planes for 45 minutes, I’ve always enjoyed flying so much, both of my flights were great and I was in Abilene so fast! My sweet daddy was there to pick me up and from there we headed home to see my mom and big boy Duke (a.k.a. biggest black lab ever). It was so great to see my mom and get to spend an entire week with my parents at their house in Abilene, I love Abilene, something I never ever thought I’d say!

On Saturday after we got home and hung out for awhile my mom & I went out and got some errands and shopping done and went out to lunch at one my favorite places to eat there, Rosa’s Cafe, it was delicious! Since Maggie’s 7th birthday party was the next day we got her birthday present all picked out and were definitely so happy with it and also picked up a few last minute things for her birthday cake since my mom was making it! After getting the rest of our errands finished that afternoon we headed home to get dinner going. On Sunday we headed to church with the Trammells and then to the Abilene Country Club for a special birthday lunch after church. After lunch we headed home, then I took Elizabeth to one of her school friends birthday party then pretty much immediately after we had Maggie’s birthday party to go to that was at the same exact place. Maggie had her birthday party at a fun gymnastics place where the kids all get to play with the gymnastics gear and then eat cake and open presents after. I went over to the Trammells house after the party to hang out for a bit and give Maggie her birthday present from us, which she loved just as I thought! My mom and I went to a new teacher supply store in Abilene and bought her a double sided easel dry erase board on one side and chalkboard on the other side and lots of other teacher and school stuff that she can play school with! I thought it was such fun stuff as I remembered what fond memories I had of playing school with all my cousins when I was around her age so I thought she would love it!

Maggie's birthday cake, I thought it turned out so cute, my mom did such a great job!

Maggie’s birthday cake, I thought it turned out so cute, my mom did such a great job!

The actual reason I went to Abilene was to help out Sara this week with the girls because she was in charge of planning the Philharmonic Ball this year and was going to super busy so it was JILLIE TO THE RESCUE haha! Most of the week I spent time picking up the girls from school and carpooling them to their different activities during the week like gymnastics, ballet, violin. Alot of my time was spent with Elizabeth since she is only three she isn’t in full time school yet, she only goes three days a week. But we had alot of fun together going to get after school snacks, running errands together, picking ย up my mom from her school, and spending lots of time outside. I also got the chance to go to most of my favorite restaurants in Abilene that I don’t get to eat at since alot of them are local to Abilene that I definitely miss! We did a few fun projects, helped the girls with their homework, and was just really like old times!

Unfortunately, I left my camera battery at home the day of Maggie’s birthday party so I don’t have any pictures to show off from my camera, except the ones on my phone which I haven’t uploaded yet. But I decided to divide this weeks posts into two so it wouldn’t be so crazy long and drawn out, so here is part one! PART TWO COMING UP… ๐Ÿ™‚
